The Dancy variety of oranges is characterized by medium-sized fruits with a broadly depressed apex. These oranges have thin, leathery, and easily removable rinds that are tough and loose. The surface of the fruit is smooth and glossy, though it may become bumpy with age. When mature, the color of Dancy oranges ranges from deep orange-red to scarlet, adding to their visual appeal.



The Citrus reticulata Blanco, commonly known as Darjeeling Mandarin, is a significant cash crop cultivated in the Darjeeling Hills. This variety of oranges is grown on approximately 930 hectares of land in the region. The annual production of Darjeeling Mandarin oranges amounts to around 148,224 metric tons, making it a notable contributor to the agricultural output of the area.



Pronounced as Kinoo or Kinu, the Kinnow Mandarin is a high-yield mandarin variety known for its juicy flesh. It is believed to be a hybrid of two citrus cultivars, the ‘King’ and the ‘Willow Leaf’. Kinnow Mandarin is primarily cultivated in the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
